The PES Parent Teacher Organization elected new officers at its May 10 meeting. Amy Ramsey will serve as president, Becky Frost as Vice President, Erin Butler as treasurer, and retiring President Tina Nevins will serve as Secretary. We thank Ms. Nevins for her two years of service as PTO president.

As part of an Earth Day whole-school meeting on April 22, PES students witnessed and participated in the planning of a birch tree, donated to the school by Mr. Jeff Edmond of Millican Nursery in Chichester. Mr. Edmond and school board member, Mike Wolfe, were on hand to help students with the planting.
In Everyday Mathematics (EDM) students are introduced to many different methods for subtraction. As they get older, they are introduced to subtraction algorithms. PES third graders worked the week of March 15 with artist in residence “Dancing” Bob Gundy and performed to an audience of peers and parents.
On Wednesday May 10, dozens of moms, aunts, grandmothers, and others visited PES from 7:15 to 8:00 to read with their children and enjoy coffee and muffins.
