which are\u00a0playing and being students.<\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sau51.org\/pes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/boy1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2781\" title=\"boy\" src=\"https:\/\/sau51.org\/pes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/boy1-e1312224997772-300x277.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"163\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">OT is a related service to special education.\u00a0 When a student is\u00a0referred and if it is determined\u00a0he\/she qualifies for special education services, it is also determined whether\u00a0he\/she will receive occupational therapy services. <\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">With the recommendation of the occupational therapist, if the team determines sensory, motor, and\/or perceptual\u00a0development is affecting the\u00a0student&#8217;s\u00a0ability to be successful with\u00a0classroom tasks, he\/she will begin receiving OT services once\u00a0his\/her individual education program (IEP) is written. <\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">If you have questions about\u00a0 special education referrals, please\u00a0contact the director of student services,\u00a0Tobi Chassie,\u00a0(<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\">tchassie@ pittsfield.k12.nh.us.)<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">One reason for a student\u2019s discharge from OT services is that sensory, motor and\/or perceptual development are no longer affecting his\/her ability to successfully function in the school and classroom environments. <\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Another reason for discharge from OT services is\u00a0the student&#8217;s skills and independence has progressed as far as expected through OT intervention. <\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"213\" valign=\"top\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif; color: #666699;\">Eligibility for discharge is determined by the occupational therapist&#8217;s clinical observations or an OT evaluation.\u00a0 The decision to discharge is then made by the occupational therapist and the whole team working with the student, including the parent(s).<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div><em><strong><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif;
